Owner Andra Douglas

Current Team
New York Sharks

Andra Douglas is a former creative director and athlete. After graduating with honors from Florida State University where she was a member of the two-time National Champion Women’s Rugby Team, she began playing semi-pro golf. In 1983 she moved to New York City where she received her Masters degree in Communications Design from Pratt Institute.

Thirty years later, after retiring as a Vice President at Time Warner, she works as a creative consultant for the entertainment industry and has recently been named Managing Partner of KDP, a family owned business involving land development in Florida.

In August of 2000, Andra purchased the New York Sharks Women’s Tackle Football Team. After hanging up her cleats as a quarterback, she focused solely on her role as owner of the team.

Andra sold her storied, trailblazing organization in 2018, after 18 successful seasons. What a magical “fin-ish” it was that year. She and her Sharks went out on top: winning the WFA D2 Championship Title AND winning the first ever international women’s tackle football tournament, held in Birmingham, UK named the Transatlantic Trophy, in September of 2018. The quintessential “Storybook Ending” for her trail blazing and respected organization.

The Sharks will always be considered one of the premiere teams in the world over the course of it’s 20 year herstory. Andra leaves behind a wonderful legacy as she moves to the next chapter of her life which includes focusing on her unique artwork and writing. Her first book “Black and Blue” was published in May of 2019 and has been met with rave reviews.
