U.S. Women Win Silver Medal At 2010 IFAF Flag Football World Championships

The U.S. Women came up one victory short as the Americans lost to Canada, 31-18, in the final game of the IFAF Flag Football World Championship.

Canada jumped out to a 19-6 lead late in the first half as Shawntese Charles caught a touchdown pass from Karen Mulligan for the U.S. team's first score.

Mulligan then connected with Chante Bonds for a touchdown just before halftime as the U.S. trailed, 19-12, at the break.

The U.S. cut the deficit to 19-18 in the third quarter as Donna Spilotras caught a short touchdown pass from Mulligan. It was all Canada from there, though, as Canada scored the final two touchdowns to pull away. The U.S. Women's team was composed of athletes from the New York Sharks, D.C. Divas, and Pittsburgh Passion.

Three members of the U.S. Women's Team earned All-Tournament honors - wide receiver Adrienne Smith, defensive back Bonds and defensive back Sharon Vasquez.
